    Description

Ostatni Etap (Film Polski, 1948). Polish One Sheet (26.5" X 38.5). Tadeusz Trepkowski Artwork.
Wanda Jakubowska had been directing films in Poland since 1932, but when war broke out in 1939, she was driven into the Polish Resistance. Captured by the Nazis, she was sent to Auschwitz prison. She survived the horror by observing everything and dreaming of the day when she could document the atrocities she saw. In 1948 she got her chance at last. Ostatni Etap (The Last Stage) is her telling of her own experiences at the infamous concentration camp. Marta Weiss (Barbara Drapinska) is brought to Auschwitz along with her family. Singled out as an interpreter, Marta's life is spared, but the rest of the family is not so lucky. Over time she learns the fine line of dealing with the Nazi captors and capos--inmate collaborators--while still finding ways to resist. The poster shows creasing in the borders with some small tears, and a couple of creases in the image. The linen is trimmed to the border, but not into the poster. Though backed onto linen, no additional restoration efforts have been made. This country of origin poster has artwork by Tadeusz Trepkowski, one of the most influential Polish artists to emerge after the war. Very Fine- on Chartex.
