Oliver Twist (First National, 1922). Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (28.25" X 41").
Heritage is pleased to present this vibrant stone litho poster for the first time, featuring an endearing portrait of Jackie Coogan. To the best of our knowledge, this poster marks the first time a one sheet for this picture has been offered at auction. It is fitting that Coogan, whose performance as the title role in The Kid catapulted him to stardom at the age of seven, would star as Charles Dicken's Oliver Twist. Of considerable note, Lon Chaney performed as Fagin in this film a year before his breakout role of Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and two years before his most famous depiction of the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. Benefitting from professional restoration, this one sheet no longer shows edge wear, fold wear and separation, large tears into the interior, as well as chipping at the border and folds. Also addressed was a chip in the bottom of Coogan's left pant leg. The borders and background have been airbrushed.

    Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
