    Description

October 1917: Ten Days that Shook the World (Sovkino, 1927). Fine on Linen. Russian Poster (39.5" X 54") Vladimir and Georgii Stenberg Artwork.
This original release, country of origin poster is a first time offer from Heritage. The film is done in documentary fashion, depicting the events in 1917 as the Bolsheviks took over Russia. Brilliantly directed by Sergei Eisenstein, most impressive is the recreation of the storming of the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg. Eisenstein cast non-actors in most of the roles, including an amazing double for Vladimir Lenin. So realistic was the recreation of the events that many times clips from the film have been used and labeled actual footage from the revolution. The poster has been professionally conserved to correct edge wear, fold wear and separations, and some tears. The poster also displayed some chipping at the edges and paper loss in the upper left corner and background of the image. The borders have been airbrushed, and some touchup has been applied where the poster's two panels meet. A very, very rare poster with perhaps only a couple of copies known to have survived.
