Description

Ninotchka (MGM, 1939). Window Card (14" X 22") Ted "Vincenti" Ireland Artwork.
Greta Garbo, known for her on-screen stoicism and far-away stares, decided to break away from her traditional roles and appear in this Oscar nominated comedy from director Ernst Lubitsch. The studio developed an inspired ad campaign to get the public's attention and announced to the world, "Garbo Laughs." Thanks to a witty script by the immensely talented Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder, the comedy was an enticing, romantic and satirical picture all at the same time. Never sold before at Heritage, this window card has the same beautiful portrait of Garbo by Ted "Vincenti" Ireland found on the style C one sheet. Touchup has been applied with small tears at the edges and a pinhole in the "A" of "Garbo." Still visible are a couple of faint horizontal stains in the image area and a small spot in Garbo's shoulder. The card has a light warp towards the bottom. Very Fine- on Cardstock.
