    Description

New York World's Fair (Grinnell Litho Co., 1939). Exhibition Poster (20" X 30") John Atherton Artwork.
John Atherton (1900-1952) was a commercial illustrator who designed for General Motors, Shell Motors, and Dole. In 1939, he was commissioned to create a poster for the New York World's Fair. His superb Art Deco piece includes the Perisphere, Trylon, Helicline, and a globe, all enveloped in the embrace of Lady Liberty. The poster has small tears in the borders, a minor chip near the upper left corner, and some smudges in the lower left and bottom borders. There is a mild tear from the left border into the background that has been repaired with archival tape on the verso. Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.

    Estimate: $400 - $800.
