DescriptionNew York World's Fair (Eastern Railroads, 1939). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Exhibition Poster (27" X 40.5") "Railroads On Parade." Leslie Ragan Artwork.
The theme of the 1939 fair was "Building The World of Tomorrow," espousing a message of hope for a better future that struck a chord with fair-goers weary from the ravages of the first World War and the Great Depression. One of the main attractions of the Railroad Conference in the Transportation Zone was Railroads On Parade, a pageant-drama created by Edward Hungerford, dramatizing the start and expansion of railroads. Retaining its vibrant color, the poster had partial touchup applied to a few small chips in the lower right border and edge wear, some of which is still visible. There are unaddressed pinholes, creases, and moderate tears. The poster also has some surface scuffs and a scratch in the image. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
