    Although not the first Sherlock Holmes film to grace the silver screen, this picture, based on the collection of stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the first time movie goers experienced Detective Holmes with sound. Clive Brook debuted as the world's favorite detective and would even return to the role as part of Paramount Parade in 1930 and in the 1932 Sherlock Holmes. Offered for only the second time by Heritage, this poster features an excellent portrait of Brook as Holmes exhibiting the qualities of the detective that endeared him in the hearts of viewers. With a shrewd memory, astute attention to detail, and his signature tweed jacket, Brook brought Doyle's beloved detective to life in a way none had done before him. This vibrant one sheet has benefitted from professional restoration to slight fold wear and separations, a few tears, and light creases. Also addressed were small chips, including one in the crossfold in Clive Brook's forehead, as well as some paper loss in the upper right background and border, some of which extended to the right edge of the "C" in "Picture." The borders have been airbrushed. There are a few very faint printing irregularities still visible in the left background. After these corrections, the poster displays beautifully.
