    Sherlock Holmes Lot (Various, 1980s-2000s). Autographed Hardcover Book (6" X 8.5"), Autographed Paperback Book (4.25" X 7"), Paperback Books (6) (5.5" X 8.25"), & Hardcover Book (6.5" X 9.5"). Mystery.
    This lot spotlights Sherlock Holmes, who became an eventual inspiration for Ian Fleming's James Bond character. Featured is a signed hardcover copy of The Return of Moriarty (G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1974) and a signed paperback of The Revenge of Moriarty (Star Books, 1984) both by John Gardner; Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Sign of the Four, A Study in Scarlet, Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, as well as The Casebook of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle published from 1993-1994 by Quality Paperback Book Club; and a hardcover copy of The Man Who Created Sherlock Holmes: The Life and Times of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle by Andrew Lycett (Free Press, 2007). Unrestored books with bright color and clean overall appearances. They may have general signs of use, such as light edge wear, very slight spine separation and spine wear, light corner bends, soft surface scuffs, unobtrusive stains and smudges, or very minor tears. The Return of Moriarty has tape stains on the front and back end papers, some light toning, and staining on the back end paper. The Revenge of Moriarty and The Return of Moriarty are both signed by John Gardner and were given to his neighbors, Jim and Diane Dodd. The inscription for The Revenge of Moriarty is signed "John Gardner, To Jim and Diane. All good wishes. John" and The Return of Moriarty is signed "To Jim and Diane with love. John Gardner."
