    Description

Charlie Chan at the Olympics (20th Century Fox, 1937). Silk Screen Poster (30" X 40").
Never offered before by Heritage, this large format Charlie Chan poster stars everyone's favorite to play the Hawaiian detective - Warner Oland. The film was set against Hitler's notorious 1936 Berlin Olympics, with actual footage of the event incorporated into the film. At the start of the film, Chan heads to Berlin aboard the dirigible Hindenburg, whose image was retouched by hand to obliterate the swastika emblazoned on the airship's tail. Aided by his number one son (Keye Luke) and no less than the Berlin Police Department, Charlie foils an international plot that involves remote controlled aircraft. This amazing poster actually features the ill-fated airship Hindenburg, which crashed into flames the same week that this film was released. This is the only known poster from this film to actually feature an image of the doomed dirigible. Professional restoration has addressed small border tears, creases, and minor bits of surface paper loss. There was chipping in the top and bottom borders, and all of the borders have been airbrushed. Touchup has also been applied to some of the shading in the character portraits, the Hindenburg at the top, and the white credits have been airbrushed. Some of the creases are still apparent, and there is a post-restoration top left corner bump. Fine on Paper.
