DescriptionMutiny on the Bounty (MGM, 1935). Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27.5" X 41") Style D.
Clark Gable, Charles Laughton and Franchot Tone star in the highest grossing film of 1935, which also won the Best Picture Academy Award that year. MGM's rousing true story of the Bounty's mutiny was directed by Frank Lloyd and depicted the harsh conditions and mistreatment of sailors by the ship's captain that was completely legal under British maritime law. Benefitting from professional restoration, this rare style D stone litho poster no longer displays fold wear and separations, pinholes, very minor paper loss, and a few tear into the interior. The upper and lower borders once had a .5" trim in the top and bottom borders, but this has since been replaced during conservation. The borders and yellow background have been airbrushed.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
