The Jazz Singer (Warner Bros., 1927). Fine on Linen. Three Sheet (41" X 80.25").Heritage is please to present this scarce stone litho three sheet for the first time and, to the best of our knowledge, this is the only three sheet known to still survive to present day. On October 6, 1927, The Jazz Singer premiered at the Warner Theater in New York City, broke box-office records, established Warner Brothers as a major player in Hollywood, and is traditionally credited with single-handedly launching the talkie revolution. Produced by the studio with their novel Vitaphone sound process allowing Al Jolson to became the first man to ever speak on the silver screen in a feature length film. His first words were prophetic -- "Wait a minute, wait a minute, you ain't heard nothing' yet!" The production costs for the film totaled $422,000, a large sum for the cash-strapped studio. But the picture was a hit, creating a worldwide sensation and virtually saving Warner's future. This stone litho three sheet has received professional restoration to address edge and fold wear, fold separations, and some chipping in the folds and borders. Other corrections have been applied to tears into the interior, including tearing into the lower image and text area. The borders, green background, and Al Jolson's credit have been airbrushed. This excellent conservation has rendered this rare piece display ready as a once in a lifetime opportunity, not to be missed by any collector.
