Description

Swing Time (RKO, 1936). 24 Sheet (104" X 232").
Fred Astaire and his dance partner Ginger Rogers are captured to perfection on this stunning 24 sheet. Astaire, as a dancer addicted to gambling, is intending to marry the girl of his dreams. But as fate would have it, he misses his own wedding and has to come up with a $25,000 dowry to win her father back over. Off to New York he goes, gambling his way to success and bumping into the real girl of his dreams, a new dance partner named Penny (Ginger Rogers). Astaire was notorious for wanting his dance numbers shot in one take, no edits or inserted shots. And the result was cinematic magic. Fans of the dancing duo declare that Swing Time remains one of their finest films and this poster captures the two dancing to one of Jerome Kerns' finest numbers. The poster has some minor edge tears (primarily on the outside section) with crossfold tears just under Astaire's sleeve. There is also some minor paper loss in the edge of the section that has Rogers' dress and this has been reinforced with paper tape on the verso. There is approximately one pinhole in each corner of each section where the poster was displayed at one time. Fine/Very Fine.
