Gertrude Lawrence in "The Battle of Paris" (Paramount, 1929). Photo (8" X 10") and Gold Memento in Felt Case (1.5" X 1.5").
Vintage gelatin silver, single weight, glossy photo. Offered in this lot from the estate of Shelby Chapman, sound mixer and engineer, is an unpublished cast and crew photo from the set of this early musical, Gertrude Lawrence's first talking film. Pictured is Chapman sitting to the left of Lawrence and in the back row third from the right is director Robert Florey, who later directed Murders in the Rue Morgue. Also included is an 18kt gold memento medallion that is engraved on the reverse, "To Chap From Gertrude Lawrence." A unique set of items from an early talking picture. The photo has two binder holes in the lower border and the medallion is in mint condition with its original felt case. Very Fine-.
