Clark Gable and Joan Crawford in Dancing Lady by George Hurrell (MGM, c.1980s). Fine/Very Fine. Autographed Restrike from Negative Photo (8.5" X 11"). Musical.
Black and white, single weight, glossy finish photo. In the early 1930s, George Hurrell photographed every star at MGM, including Joan Crawford and Clark Gable as seen here. Hurrell's work set a new standard for Hollywood portraits. It even inspired a new name for the genre - glamour photography. Starring Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Franchot Tone, The Three Stooges, Fred Astaire, Nelson Eddy, May Robson, Curly Howard, Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Ted Healy, Winnie Lightner, Robert Benchley, Arthur Jarrett, Grant Mitchell, Sterling Holloway, Gloria Foy, Eve Arden, and Lynn Bari. Directed by Robert Z. Leonard. An unrestored photo that displays signs of use. May include slight edge wear, small creases, soft rippling, pinholes, some surface scuffs, or minute paper lifts. The photo has been signed, "Clark Gable & Joan Crawford, 1932, George Hurrell" on the verso. Heritage Auctions believes that the autographed item in this lot is authentic, but know before bidding that no Certificate of Authenticity is provided.
