As entertaining today as it was upon release, Cabin in the Sky is a landmark motion picture of grand design with stellar musical performances. The film was one of the first produced by a major studio to feature an all-black cast, including some of the biggest names of the day, such as Ethel Waters, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Lena Horne, Louis Armstrong, Mantan Moreland, and Butterfly McQueen. Directed by Vincente Minnelli, his first feature, it tells the story of an inveterate gambler (Anderson) who is shot during an outing to a casino. His wife (Waters), prays for his soul, leading to a major showdown between the forces of Good and Evil. This incredibly gorgeous one sheet features magnificent artwork by Al Hirschfeld, and is one of the most sought after posters of the war years. Prior to restoration, there were small chips in the left and right borders, a chip in the upper left corner, and some slight paper loss in the folds. Touchup work has been done to the folds, and the white background has been airbrushed. Fine+ on Linen.
