As entertaining today as it was upon release, Cabin in the Sky is a landmark motion picture of grand design with stellar musical performances. The film was one of the first produced by a major studio to feature an all-black cast, including some of the biggest names of the day, such as Ethel Waters, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Lena Horne, Louis Armstrong, Mantan Moreland, and Butterfly McQueen. Directed by Vincente Minnelli, his first feature, it tells the story of an inveterate gambler (Anderson) who is shot during an outing to a casino. His wife (Waters), prays for his soul, leading to a major showdown between the forces of Good and Evil. This incredibly gorgeous one sheet features magnificent artwork by Al Hirschfeld, and is one of the most sought after posters of the war years. Already in excellent condition, this brilliant one sheet looks incredible after receiving professional touchup to the folds, pinholes in the corners, small tears in the borders, and a few very minor chips at the edges. The very rare piece is fully ready for display and boasts incredibly vibrant colors, a chance no true collector should let slip by! Very Fine on Linen.
