    Description

    Ballet Theatre Posters (1940s, 1952). Three Sheets (2) (41" X 69", 41" X 78.5").
With beautiful colors and arabesquing silhouettes, these two posters are snapshots into the the history of one of America's most premiere ballet companies, the Ballet Theatre (now know as the American Ballet Theatre). The blue poster showcases subtle artwork from artist J. Lowery, while the rose poster features famed dancers Alicia Markova and Anton Dolin in their respective roles of the titular Giselle and her deceitful lover Albrechte. Both posters are in fine condition with only minor edge and fold wear, faint smudges, some light image ghosting in the rose poster, and slight wrinkling and two small chips in it lower border of the blue poster's upper section. From the personal collection of the legendary impresario Sol Hurok. Folded, Very Fine-.
