DescriptionA Damsel In Distress (RKO, 1938). Folded, Fine+. Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.
It is Heritage's first time to present this stunning Italian poster, an item so rare that we know of no other time it has ever been offered at auction! Fred Astaire's first film foray without Ginger Rogers is a comedy of mistaken identity with the star as an American entertainer who meets Joan Fontaine, a lady of nobility who must marry soon. Great Gershwin songs such as "A Foggy Day" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It" liven up the hijinks, and Fred dances with Fontaine (who tries her best to keep up!), and with George Burns and Gracie Allen in the cute number "Things Are Looking Up." This stone litho Italian poster with artwork by the great Anselmo Ballester (early in his career) shows slight fold wear and separations, pinholes, mild creases, and small tears and chips. There are stains in the borders and interior, tape stains, a tear at the top of the "A" of "Una," and some pieces of cellophane tape on the verso.
Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
