    Description

    Murder By Television (Imperial-Cameo, 1935). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Many people today would be surprised to find a 1930s film called Murder by Television. Most assume that televised entertainment only got its start in the 1950s, but that was only when the medium became popular. In reality, the first television station aired its inaugural broadcast in 1928, paving the way for this science fiction murder mystery. Maybe it was a case of Hollywood's earliest fears about television, but this movie featured an inventor being murdered by his own television ray machine. Bela Lugosi plays one of the suspects- until his body turns up dead as well. So who solves the case? Lugosi! Playing his own twin, a police homicide detective on the force. The posters for this title are extremely rare and sought after by Lugosi collectors, and this is the first one sheet we at Heritage have ever offered for the title. Touchup has been applied to the folds, pinholes, and to small chips and tears in the borders and folds. There was also a tear from the right border into Lugosi's temple. There is an ink stain, which could be a printing irregularity, in June Collyer's shoulder. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
