    Description

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Columbia, 1949). Folded, Very Fine-. First Release Spanish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5"). From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
Once showcased at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Grand Lobby Gallery, Heritage is proud to offer this first release Spanish one sheet for the first time. In a legendary career that included some of the most beloved roles in screen history, one of James Stewart's finest portrayal was that of Jefferson Smith, a naïve and idealistic man appointed to fill a vacant Senate seat. Nominated for an incredible 10 Academy Awards (it won for Best Writing, Original Story), the film, directed by Frank Capra, although bitterly denounced by real-life politicians at the time of its release, remains a landmark in the history of motion pictures. Signs of handling include some edge wear, slight fold separations, as well as minor chips and tears. Also apparent are small stains and a sliver of paper loss in the lower right border. There are a few strips of mending tissue on the verso bracing the folds.

    Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
