    Description

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Columbia, 1939). Fine+ on Cardstock. Title Lobby Card (11" X 14").
James Stewart would win the hearts of audiences and score one of his five Academy Award nominations playing a naïve freshman senator, a role that also secured his place in the pantheon of Hollywood greats. Though he played many memorable characters during his fifty year-plus career, it is Senator Jefferson Smith, perhaps next only to It's a Wonderful Life's George Bailey, with which Stewart is most identified. Co-star Jean Arthur, who had also teamed with Stewart the previous year in You Can't Take it with You, has been called "the quintessential comedic leading lady" by film historian Robert Osborne. Restoration has addressed a top right corner chip, horizontal creases, pinholes, and a few moderate tears. The borders have been airbrushed. This beautiful image captures the essence of Stewart's charm and would be a fine addition to any collection. Fine+ on Cardstock.

    Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
