DescriptionMr. Lucky (RKO, 1943). Very Fine on Linen. Three Sheet (41" X 80.25").
For Cary Grant fans, this first-time offering from Heritage is a delightful piece to own! It was inspired by one of Grant's most financially successful 1940s vehicles, where the star was atypically cast as a shifty, out-for-number-one gambler. Having dodged the draft by adopting the identity of a dead man, Grant sets his sights on purchasing a fancy gambling ship. To raise the necessary funds, he pretends to be working hand-in-glove with the American War Relief society. Once he meets Laraine Day, however, Grant is seized by an uncontrollable bout of honesty. It takes him awhile, but he finally does the right thing. Corrections have been made just to a few pinholes, and the only other signs of handling include light fold wear, a couple of faint unobtrusive stains, as well as some slight rippling at the top of the lower panel. Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
