Description

Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (Columbia, 1936). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Longfellow Deeds (Gary Cooper) is a simple soul who wants nothing more out of life than to play his tuba and write greeting card verses. But that simple life is turned upside down when he inherits a fortune from a distant relative and moves to New York City. There, he becomes a target for everyone from charitable organizations to city slickers to hotshot reporter Babe Bennett (Jean Arthur), who tries to get the inside scoop on the mysterious young man. She gets more than she bargained for, however, when she begins to fall for Deeds's simple country charm. Director Frank Capra spent over $800,000 on this picture - a hefty sum at the time - and was rewarded with his second of three Oscar wins for Best Director. This highly desirable title card is as clean and fresh as they come. You'd be hard-pressed to find an example nicer than this! Mint.
