    Description

Mount Kumgang in Korea (Japanese Tourist Bureau, 1930s). Japanese Poster (24.5" X 36").
This beautiful image is a poster issued by Korea national railway during the early to mid 1930s. These posters were created for domestic use only to promote travel within Japan and its territories to various national parks, hot spring resorts and other notable destinations. Korea became Japan's territory as a result of the Japan-Korea Annexation Treaty which was signed in 1910. At the time of the printing of this poster, Korea was part of Japanese territory. This example states; Sale of discounted exploration tickets (Individual 30% off, group 50% off). For more information, please visit below: Keijo (Seoul): Korea Rail Headquarters, Gwangwon Province and Chrowon Province: Kumgang Electrical Railway, Tokyomaru Building, Osaka Azuchi and Sakai, In front of Shimonoseki Station: Korea and Manchuria Information Disk, Others: Japan Tourist Bureau Inform. Since none of these posters were distributed outside of Japan, they are quite scarce. When various Japanese museum poster curators (as well as the Ogaki Poster Museum) were supplied images, they replied that there were no examples of this genre in their collection. This lovely copy had some amount of paper loss in the upper border and extending into the upper left blank area. There were tears into the art in areas around the borders. Fine+ on Linen.
