    Description

    Warren G. Harding Political Poster (Moffett Printing, 1920). Poster (22" X 28").
Offered here on glossy stock, is an original portrait of Warren G. Harding, the 29th President of the United States (1921-1923). In the 1920 Presidential election, Harding, a Republican, ran against Democratic Ohio Governor James M. Cox, whose running mate was Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Harding's campaign slogan was "Return to Normalcy", as the U.S. was a nation healing after World War I. The election was positioned as a break from the progressive ideology of the Woodrow Wilson Administration in favor of the "laissez-faire" approach of the William McKinley era. Harding died suddenly in 1923, and although his brief tenure as President was plagued with scandals, he has been praised for his concern for minorities, women and labor. There is a crease at the bottom right and left, smudging, and light stains at the top right and bottom border. Rolled, Fine+.
