    Description

Vivian Duncan (1924). Portrait Photo with Autographed Mat (15.5" X 18.75). Miscellaneous.
Vintage gelatin silver, double weight, satin finish photo of vaudevillian, Vivian Duncan, who toured the theater circuit in a double act with her sister, Rosette. The two became famous their roles in the 1923 Broadway play Topsy and Eva, with this photo possibly showing Vivian posing as the titular Eva. An unrestored photo that displays signs of use. May include light edge wear, mild creases, small tears, surface blemishes, rounded corners, smudges, or staining. The photo and mat show toning, and the photo has masking tape, tape stains, and paper lifts in the corners. There is a piece of paper tape on the verso attaching to photo to the mat, and the photo has a printed photographer's credit stamp for Hartsook. The mat has been signed, "Aug. 1924" and "To Richard J. Moore, With Love - Vivian Duncan, Li'il Eva (What?)." Heritage Auctions believes the signature to be authentic, but know before bidding that no Certificate of Authenticity is provided. Please see full-color, enlargeable image above for more details.
