UK Travel Poster (LNER, 1927). Poster (40" X 50") "The Trossachs," Artist: Austin Cooper.
Austin Cooper (1890-1964) was an illustrator and poster artist born in Canada with artistic training in Britain. He settled in London during the early 1920s and was soon commissioned by the London Underground to create a series of posters. For the next twenty years he established himself as one of the top poster designers and became well known for his illustration work for the London North Eastern Railway. Cooper renders the quiet charms of Scotland's Trossachs region (now a national park), illustrating the richly wooded glens and clear, inviting lochs. Originals of this travel poster aren't easy to find, and this one has been restored with excellent results. Touchup was applied to a tear in the left border, fold wear, chip in the bottom border, and light vertical creases. Fine+ on Linen.
