    Description

    True Story Magazine (McFadden Publications, 1935 & 1936). Magazines (2) (Multiple Pages, 8.5" X 11.5"). Miscellaneous.
This lot includes the True Story February 1935 issue with wonderful cover art by A. Mozert and the March 1936 issue with cover art by Victor Tchetchet. True Story was launched in 1919 and was the first of the "confessions" magazine genre. The issues were filled with first-hand accounts of social problems such as pre-marital sex, illegitimacy, adultery, unemployment, and crime, following a formula that became known as the "sin-suffer-repent." Also included was a section on "Your Favorite Screen Stars." These issues feature Barbara Stanwyck, Astrid Allwyn, Warner Baxter, Joan Crawford with Brian Aherne, and Rosalind Russell. Unrestored magazines with good color and an overall very presentable appearance. They may have tears, slight paper loss, creases, minor stains, corner bends, and/or spine and edge wear. The February issue's spine is worn away and the front and back covers are almost detached. The March issue has cuts in a few of its advertisement pages. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine.
