Traversez L'antlantique en 2 Jours (Deustsche Zeppelin-Reederei, c.1936). Fine on Linen. French Language German Travel Poster (23.5" X 33"). Ottomar Anton Artwork.
Ottomar Anton created this poster with the Hindenburg soaring above a ship to highlight that zeppelins were able to travel across the Atlantic ocean in just two days. Anton was known for his graphic designs, especially travel posters, in the 1930s and continued his work through the war by illustrating German propaganda. After the Hindenburg incident, the Deustsche Zeppelin-Reederei slowly declined and upon the start of World War II the remaining zeppelins were scrapped for military aircraft, as the German Ministry of Aviation held a large percentage of the company shares. Professional corrections have been applied to some creasing, small chips, and tears, including a tear extending from the upper edge into the zeppelin. The top and bottom borders were once trimmed and have since been replaced during restoration. There is some airbrushing in the background.
