    Description

Sears Roebuck Film Exhibition Poster (Circa 1900-1908). Poster (21" X 28").
Life size views of life in motion are promised with this incredibly early motion picture poster, used to promote Optigraph Moving Picture Machines by Sears & Roebuck. Featuring scenes from the late war with Spain, railway trains going at full speed, bicycle parades, and more, viewers can get "more information in two hours' entertainment than in many days' reading." Sears sold a traveling "outfit" to exhibitors which included not only the Stereopticon which was a slide projection unit but also the motion picture projector with an assortment of motion picture short films, a screen, chairs, posters such as this one and even a tent if one wanted! A truly fascinating poster, it shows some stains in the upper border, a tear in the upper right corner, and some edge and fold wear with tape on the verso. Folded, Very Fine-.
