Mae Clarke Personal Scrapbooks (1930-1980s). Fine+. Scrapbooks (3) & Manuscript (Multiple Pages). Miscellaneous.
Offered in this lot is a collection of Mae Clarke's personal scrapbooks. Mae Clarke is most famously known as the woman who got the grapefruit from James Cagney in Public Enemy. Also, that same year (1931), she played Henry Frankenstein's bride in the first Frankenstein movie. Other notable roles were in the first version of Waterloo Bridge (1931), Lady Killer (1933), and the serial King of the Rocket Men (1949). Three scrapbooks with clippings of articles and reviews about Clarke, all with personally handwritten annotations are included. The first contains clippings from the early 1930s. The second from the 1960s, and the third from the 1930 to the 1960s. Also offered is a 1948 manuscript - "The Unlit Candle" by Clarke, along with cards and letters.
