    Katharine Hepburn by Frances Rich (1965). Bronze Sculpture (Sculpture: 7.5" X 9", Base: 8" X 8" X 6.25").
As the daughter of Irene Rich, Frances Rich had rubbed shoulders with celebrities from her earliest years, as well as during her brief stint on Broadway and the silver screen in the early thirties. She soon found her passion in sculpture, with her famous friends becoming her artistic subjects, creating busts for the likes of opera singer Lottie Lehmann, activist Margaret Sanger, artist Diego Rivera, and one of the biggest legends Hollywood has ever seen, Katharine Hepburn. The two became close friends over the years, with Hepburn becoming a bit of a muse for Rich, especially in the sixties. Skillfully cast in bronze, this lovely statue gives us a look at Hepburn as Egypt's most famous queen in her 1960 theatrical performance of Shakespeare's Anthony and Cleopatra. Truly a one of a kind piece, Heritage is proud to present such an incredible item for the first, and possibly the only, time. In good condition, especially considering their age, both the sculpture and its accompanying base display general surface wear. Hepburn's face has some touchup to the chin, with spots of touchup on the nose, cheeks, and jaw. The stand shows edge wear with nicks and scratches, and varnish has been worn down in a few places. Despite these small issues, this truly unique piece displays well in virtually any setting. Very Fine-.
