James Dean High School Yearbook (Fairmount High School, 1949). Hardcover Yearbook (76 Pages, 8" X 11").
In 1945, James Dean began attending Fairmount High School, where he excelled in various sports, art, band, and received a few academic awards. He also showed an early passion for drama as the president of the Thespian Society, and won first place at the state National Forensic League competition for his debate club, reading the passage Madman by Charles Dickens. To round out his his early acting experience, Dean even "scared the wits out of the audience" as Frankenstein's grotesque Monster at the school's Halloween Carnival. He appears in full monster makeup in this yearbook from the star's senior year, which shows some foxing into the interior and at the edges. The foxing is especially apparent on the flyleaf and back end papers, which also show staining at the edges and gutter. The first printed page is coming slightly loose from the spine and has a mild tear at the bottom. Included with the yearbook is a Certificate of Authenticity from R & R Enterprises, a highly reputable verification source. Fine/Very Fine.
