A vintage gelatin silver, double weight, glossy photo of Hollywood legend, James Dean. This image is just one in a series created by photographer Roy Schatt (1909-2002), who was a close friend and mentor to the young actor who dabbled in photography. Schatt was named the Official Photographer of the Actor's Studio by esteemed director Lee Strasberg, and his subjects also included Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman and Grace Kelly. During their brief friendship (cut short by Dean's death) Schatt created the now famous portraits titled the "Torn Sweater" series. An unrestored photo that displays signs of use.
