In 2 Days Across the Atlantic (Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei, c. 1936). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. English Language German Travel Poster (23.5" X 33"). Ottomar Anton Artwork.
German graphic artist Ottomar Anton subtly reminds the viewer of the speed with which the Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei zeppelins were able to cross the Atlantic when compared to traveling by ship. In the 1930s ocean liners were the most common form of travel between the Americas and Europe, however travelers spent several days with this method of transportation. Zeppelins, such as the infamous Hindenburg which is pictured on the poster, cut traveling time in half. It should be noted that the Hindenburg had Nazi Party flags on its tailfins, but on this poster the top flag is the black, white, and red imperial tricolor flag, which was reintroduced by the Nazis in 1933 and used until 1935. Professional restoration has addressed some creasing and tears, pinholes, as well as thin surface scratches. Parts of the background have faint airbrushing.
