    Description

Harlem As Seen By Hirschfeld by Al Hirschfeld and William Sayoran (Hyperian Press, 1941). Autographed Art Print Page, Art Print Pages (2), & Text Pages (6) (14" X 18"). Miscellaneous.
Considered as one of Al Hirschfeld's greatest artistic works, Harlem as Seen by Hirschfeld is a compilation of lithograph prints and caricatures depicting the neighborhood that was a fundamental influence in his art and style. The lithographs offered in this lot consist of an autographed print of Solid Sender, which was inspiration and visual reference for the Rhapsody in Blue segment of Walt Disney's Fantasia 2000, prints of Jam Session and Apollo Chorine, as well as text pages written by Richard Sayoran and featuring Hirschfeld's distinctive caricature art. Unrestored art prints and pages that display signs of use. May include edge wear, corner bends, small tears, minor chips in the borders, or unobtrusive stains and smudges. Each art print has adhesive stain bleedthrough and the page for Solid Sender has a snipe in the lower border. The art print for Solid Sender is signed "Hirschfeld." Heritage believes the autograph in this lot to be authentic, but know before bidding that no Certificate of Authenticity is provided. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine/Very Fine.
