    Description

George --The Supreme Master of Magic (Otis Litho, Mid ). Folded, Fine+. Eight Sheet (80" X 102").
Grover G. George, born in 1887, began performing at well-known venues in the 1920s, but faced fierce competition from Howard Thurston, who inspired George's love for magic as a child. In 1924, he made the key decision to leave the U.S., embarking on a hugely successful tour of Cuba, Central and South America. Although he attempted to return to American stages (as this poster heralds --"Triumphant American Tour"), George did not reach the same exalted status of "The Greatest Magician on Earth" that he had outside of the U.S. He retired in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he ran a prosperous business manufacturing projection machines for theaters. Retaining bright and vivid color, this stone litho poster makes its Heritage debut. It has edge and fold wear, significant fold separations, moderate tears, and some chipping in the folds. Also visible are unobtrusive stains, thin dust shadows, and image ghosting. Several panels have complete fold separations braced with archival tape on the verso. Folded, Fine+.
