Cinema Arts (Cinema Magazine Inc., 1937). Numbered and Signed Magazine (11.25" x 14.25", 90 Pages). Miscellaneous.
Cinema Arts was a beautiful, but short-lived film magazine. With only three issues ever published, it's rarely seen. This is a particularly special find, as it is a limited edition, specially bound hard cover copy of the first issue, published in June of 1937. The cover features a fantastic portrait of Greta Garbo by noted illustrator Jaro Fabry. This lavish publication was filled with spectacular features on films including Shall We Dance, The Prince and The Pauper, Captains Courageous, A Star is Born, Lost Horizon and Slave Ship. Gorgeous photos and illustrations of the stars of the day are abundant throughout, including a stunning full page color photo of Myrna Loy, a colorful illustration of Marlene Dietrich, also by Jaro Fabry, and numerous others. Also of interest is a fun article titled "Director's Dilemma," about who to cast in the roles of Scarlet O'Hara and Rhett Butler. Unrestored magazine that displays signs of use. May include light edge wear, very minor paper loss, or unobtrusive stains. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. The magazine is hand numbered 109/2000, and signed "E.A.Trope," the magazine's general manager. Fine/Very Fine.
