Boy Scouts Jamboree (Boy Scouts of America, 1935). Poster (27.5" X 42"). Miscellaneous.
This spectacular poster is notable for several reasons, with the incredible art of Norman Rockwell being at the top of the list. Rockwell's prolific partnership with the Scouts lasted more than 50 years, with his iconic images of Boy Scouts becoming engrained in the American psyche. In 1938, Rockwell was awarded the Silver Buffalo by the Boy Scouts of America, the highest award the organization can give for "Distinguished Service to Boyhood." Also of interest is that the 1st National Jamboree, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America was to be held in Washington, D. C., in August of 1935, as advertised on this poster. With much elaborate planning for this historic event, and Scouts all across the nation eagerly anticipating their exciting journey, the event would not take place as planned, due to an outbreak of polio early in the summer. It was rescheduled, and finally came to fruition in the summer of 1937. An unrestored poster that displays signs of use. May include light edge wear, very minor paper loss, pinholes, or unobtrusive stains. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.
