Description

    Mighty Joe Young (RKO, 1949). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style C.
Producer/writer Merian C. Cooper and director Ernest B. Schoedsack went back to the well that they had mined so successfully in King Kong (1933) and Son of Kong (1933) for this third entry in the giant ape franchise. This one is about a pet gorilla, raised in Africa by the lovely Jill Young (Terry Moore), and brought to America by Hollywood promoter Max O'Hara (Robert Armstrong), who exploits the giant ape with tragic results. Although Willis O'Brien gets top special effects billing, and did the designs and storyboards, Ray Harryhausen, working as Obie's assistant, actually completed most of the stop-motion animation shots for this film. Showing little wear, this poster has pinholes, slight crossfold separations, and light creases. There is a pinhole in the "G" of the title. Folded, Very Fine.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
