    Description

Mickey Mouse in Alpine Climbers (United Artists, 1936). Fine- on Paper. Silk Screen Poster (40" X 60").
Mickey and Donald are voiced by Walt Disney and Clarence Nash respectively, making this one of Disney's classics from the Golden Age! Pinto Colvig provides the barks and yips of Pluto, while Disney's close friend and top animator, David Hand, helms the short as its director. Offered now is this incredibly scarce 40" X 60" poster for this cartoon short - beautifully silk-screened by hand. Due to the fragility of these oversized posters, only a handful are known to have survived, with this being the only known example for this title. The characters are all exquisitely rendered, making this a truly rare and wondrous example! Prior to the excellent restoration, there was edge wear with tears and chips, one extending just into the image of the distant landscape on the right side, as well as paper loss in the lower right background and border. The poster's white background and borders have been airbrushed with some minor post-restoration surface lifts, creases, and cracking. There are a few small pieces of linen tape on the verso of the paper backing at the corners. The restoration leaves the poster displaying beautifully. Fine- on Paper.
