Description

MGM Personality Posters (MGM, 1947). One Sheets (6) (27" X 41"). MGM, "the studio with more stars than in heaven," was at the forefront in Hollywood of publicizing their stable of stars. With press agents touting stories to columnists like Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons (and keeping the scandals out of the papers!), and creating stunts to attract moviegoers, the publicity mill was always operating at full speed. In addition to posters for the films themselves, the studios also sent out personality posters reminding the potential audiences that they could see their favorite stars at this theater. These posters from MGM, showcase six of their biggest stars, Clark Gable, Greer Garson, Esther Williams, Robert Taylor, June Allyson and Lana Turner, who was at the height of her career around the time of "The Postman Always Rings Twice" and "Green Dolphin Street." These rolled one sheets have edge wear and tears with pieces of tape, slight wrinkling, minor foxing, and a few small scuffs and chips. The photography on these posters is stunning, with beautiful colors and soft lighting. A truly nice and unusual lot of great MGM stars. Very Fine.
