    Description

Metropolis (UFA-Paramount, 1927). Window Card (14" X 22"). This is the first original window card we have ever seen turn up for Fritz Lang's classic science fiction film from the silent era, making this a rare item indeed. "Metropolis" was the most expensive film ever produced up to that time, costing the equivalent in today's dollars of $200 million. Incredible sets and a wonderfully designed robot are just two of the ground-breaking and awe-inspiring aspects of this incredible film. This window card depicts the iconic image of Brigitte Helm as Maria. There are very minor creases and a light scratch in the top imprint area, some very slight abrasions in the image and a small tear in Helm's cheek. There are small chips in all four corners, several very miniscule and some surface wear on left border. The borders and the imprint area have been airbrushed. This is one of the very few American release posters to turn up for this classic film so if you are in the market this may be one of the few times you will find anything! Fine+ on Paper.
