Meet John Doe (Warner Brothers, 1941). Fine+ on Paper. Linen Finish Insert (14" X 36").
Fast talking and manipulative reporter Barbara Stanwyck devises a scheme to prevent herself from being laid off of work in this provocative film by Frank Capra. She writes a fake letter from "John Doe" that touches the public, as it speaks of the ill treatment of the country's common folk, and how the only way out for the author is a planned suicide at City Hall on Christmas Eve. Gary Cooper co-stars as the man who fills the shoes of Stanwyck's fabrication, and becomes a figurehead for a political movement. This charming linen finish insert is the first of its kind that Heritage has ever offered. Professional restoration has corrected edge and fold wear, fold separations, creasing, and pinholes. There were some tears at the borders, as well as a tear in the title and Edward Arnold's credit. Also addressed were some small chips in the corners and folds. The borders have been mostly airbrushed. Fine+ on Paper.

    Estimate: $600 - $1,200.
