DescriptionMatson Lines: New Zealand, Hawaii, South Seas, & Fiji (Late 1950s). Very Fine+ on Linen. Travel Posters (4) (Approx. 19" X 28" & 21.5" X 28.5").
It's Heritage's first time to auction two of the four beautiful posters in this lot, each advertising the passenger ship services offered by Matson Lines. The New Zealand poster, which has been offered only once before, was created by one of Matson's favorite artists, Louis Macoulliard, who did artwork for their poster, menus, brochures, and other printed materials. The Fiji poster very much resembles Macoulliard's style and may have been done by the artist, however his signature is not visible in the illustration. General light touchup applied to these posters includes a few very small tears. The South Seas poster has the majority of this wear, as well as a minor chip in the lower left corner.
Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
