Description

Married in Hollywood (Fox, 1929). Three Sheet (40.75" X 77.5").
Though considered a "lost" film, there are 12 minutes of the final reel in early Multicolor at the UCLA Archive. This is an early musical effort of Fox Studios and tells the story of an American vocalist touring Europe in an operetta company who meets and falls in love with a Balkan Prince. When the heir to the throne makes his plans known, his family has him locked up and the young woman shipped back to America, where she is discovered and becomes a motion picture star. When there is revolution in the Prince's home country, he travels to America to meet his love again. The star of the film was J. Harold Murray, a well-known Broadway baritone and star who would only spend a short time in Hollywood before returning to the stage. The heroine is played by another musical theater star, Norma Terris, who would originate the role of Magnolia Hawkes and her daughter Kim in the original Broadway production of Show Boat by Hammerstein and Kern. This beautiful stone litho three sheet is unrestored and has its original Kraft paper backing. There is fold wear and slight paper loss and wear at the cross folds. There is some small amount of staining primarily in the borders as well as some tears in the borders. The poster may very well have been slightly trimmed in the borders when mounted on Kraft when first displayed, as it does not measure the exact dimensions for the format. Fine on Kraft Paper.
