DescriptionMarilyn Monroe Saturday Evening Post Magazine (Curtis Publishing, 1956). Newstand Poster (28" X 39.75").
A unique find for Marilyn Monroe collectors, this newsstand poster was displayed to promote the three-part "candid report" on the actress by writer Pete Martin beginning in the May 5, 1956 edition of the Saturday Evening Post. Titled "The New Marilyn Monroe," the piece offered Post readers several examples of what Martin coined as "Monroeisms." Despite her reputation for being a "dumb blonde," Martin contended that many of Marilyn's sayings were actually quite well thought out, amusing and baffling all at once. The poster was already in good condition and now looks even better after the borders were professionally airbrushed to address a couple of small chips and a few pinholes in the corners. There is a very minor post-restoration stain at the top, but the interior is nearly flawless with no touchup. Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
