    Description

Les Diaboliques (Cinedis, 1955). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. French Grande (47" X 63") Style B, Raymond Gid Artwork.
French director Henri-Georges Clouzot bought the film rights to the original novel for this film, reportedly beating Alfred Hitchcock's bid by only a few hours. Raymond Gid's evocative artwork for this poster illustrates the drowning of Paul Meurisse, who plays the abusive husband and lover of VĂ©ra Clouzot and Simone Signoret, respectively. This original, hard-to-find, country of origin poster is the first style B grande we at Heritage has ever offered for Clouzot's French thriller. Backed on linen, the poster had touchup applied to the folds, moderate tears, and small chips in the borders and folds. It has a few minor post-restoration chips in the lower left border, and the poster has some small unaddressed stains in the left background. The linen has been trimmed nearly, but not quite, to the poster's border. Fine/Very Fine. on Linen.

    Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
