    Description

Lady of the Pavements (United Artists, 1929). Trimmed Pre-War Belgian (24.25" X 30.75").
In his final silent film, which features some recorded music, D.W. Griffith gives audiences a tour de force filled with camera innovations and superb performances by leads William Boyd (the future Hopalong Cassidy), Lupe Velez, and Jetta Goudal. A variation of the Pygmalion tale, this melodrama is set in 19th century Paris and features Velez in one of her earliest roles, playing a lowly cabaret singer transformed into a noblewoman in order to embarrass Boyd's character. Brilliant color abounds in this Heritage first, which has only had touchup applied to the folds. The imprint area has been trimmed, but this does not at all affect the illustration on this stone litho beauty. Fine+ on Linen.

    Estimate: $600 - $1,200.
