    Description

    La Dolce Vita (Cineriz, 1960). Italian 4 - Foglio (54" X 77").
It's not hard to believe this Federico Fellini classic has been continuously rated as one of cinema's Top 10 pictures, and was the late film critic Roger Ebert's favorite movie, claiming he'd seen it more than 25 times! Few directors are as revered and imitated as Fellini, a genuine master whose style of filmmaking mixed dreams and gritty reality with a touching sense of humanity. After struggling financially with his early films, La Dolce Vita broke all box office records and garnered world-wide acclaim, marking this one of many Fellini masterpieces. Filmed mainly at the Cinecitta studios, we follow star Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni as they escape the paparazzi through the streets of Rome. It's believed that Fellini coined the term "paparazzo" during this film, as the word means "sparrow" in Italian, and the reporters and photographers frenetically chasing and hopping around after celebrities reminded him of the birds. The Italian 4-foglio does not come up for auction often, especially in such pristine condition. Professionally mounted on linen, the piece has had only touchup to the folds. In rich, bold color, Ekberg dances flippantly across the poster, as Mastroianni emotes a sense of great weariness. Compliments of artist Giorgio Olivetti, the imagery is even more powerful in this grand format. Very Fine+ on Linen.
